What the corpus contains

CaseLite searches published court decisions for the United States and Canada. Records include party names, courts, decision dates, docket or court-file identifiers, and citations when those fields are present in the source data.

Primary-law browsing (statutes, regulations, and related collections) is available for selected jurisdictions and expands as collections are published into the product.

Sources and grounding

Decisions are ingested from official and published court-record sources. CaseLite does not generate opinion text. When you open a result, you are reading structured metadata and documents tied to a real source case identifier.

The same corpus underpins Casey, Caseway's AI research assistant. CaseLite is the direct search interface; Casey reasons across the same records with citations.

How records are prepared for search

Incoming decisions are normalized into consistent metadata fields (parties, court, dates, jurisdiction, identifiers) and full-text indexed so keyword and citation queries can retrieve them quickly.

Ranking uses relevance and available date signals. Filters help narrow by what you already know about a matter rather than requiring expert search syntax.

Update cadence

New decisions are ingested on an ongoing basis as source systems publish them. Coverage depth varies by court and jurisdiction; recent filings may appear after a processing delay.

Known limitations

• Not every court, tribunal, or historical period is equally represented. Absence of a case does not mean it does not exist.

• Metadata quality depends on the upstream source. Some older records may lack citations, dockets, or complete party strings.

• CaseLite is a research aid, not legal advice. Confirm critical citations against the official reporter or court website when filing or advising.

• Search result pages on the CaseLite product are optimized for interactive use; durable public landing content lives on caseway.ai pages such as this one and how CaseLite works.
